ETNA WINE ROUTE
“La strada del vino dell'Etna” (the Etna wine route) is a fairly large area in the province of Catania that, although not structured as a well-defined physical route, will allow you to visit the vineyards in the Sicilian countryside, tasting the typical products of the region, through historic towns and villages castled on the coast. The area on the volcano slopes is the ideal terroire for red, rosé and white wines with a strong character, authentic expression of the lava soil. The lava stone “palmenti”, used for viticulture and for the grape crushing phases, and the characteristic terraces with stone walls, are the common characteristic of the vineyards present on the three volcano slopes.
